2 – day, scientific research training workshop. 27-28th June, 2018.

This is the first training event organised by IDRACK, in 2018, in collaboration with the Khwarizmi science society (KSS) and the Centre for Excellence in Solid State Physics at the University of the Punjab, Lahore.

Objective:

This workshop is being organised with two objectives in mind:

  1. To introduce Software Carpentry in Pakistan and encourage people to become instructors and join a global community.
  2. To expose people with just enough know-how to integrate computational work with their current research work.

Some indication regarding the content to be delivered on these two days (27th and 28th) can be obtained from the schedule below.

Day – 1:

  • Software Carpentry: An introduction (9:00 am till 9:15 am)
  • Unix Shell – I (9:15 am till 10:00 am)
  • Break (15 minutes)
  • Unix Shell – II (10:15 am till 11:00 am)
  • Break (15 minutes)
  • Programming with Python – I (11:15 am till 12 noon)
  • Lunch (2 hours)
  • Programming with Python – II (02:00 pm till 02:45 pm)
  • Break (15 minutes)
  • Simulation of real world problems. (03:00 pm till 04:00 pm)
  • Discussion & Wrap up …

Day – 2:

  • Introduction (9:00 am till 09:15 am)
  • Hands on – Scientific writing (Latex and Bibliography management) – I  (09:15 am till 10:00 am)
  • Break (15 minutes)
  • Hands on – Scientific writing (Latex and Bibliography management) – II  (10:15 am till 11:00 am)
  • Break (15 minutes)
  • Scientific simulation Theory – I  (11:15 am till 12:00 noon)
  • Lunch (2 hours)
  • Scientific simulation Theory – II  (2:00 pm till 2:45 pm)
  • Break (15 minutes)
  • Python: My first simulation  (3:00 pm till 3:45 pm)
  • Break (15 minutes)
  • Python: Errors in my first simulation  (4:00 pm till 4:45 pm)
  • Discussion & Wrap up …

Software required:

Note: Most modern systems should meet the requirements to install software necessary for the workshop. If you are running an older version of a web browser please update it.

If you are using Linux or the macOS, you do not need to install anything. These operating systems come pre-installed with the programs required. If you are a windows user please install the following software on your laptop for this workshop.

It is strongly recommended that you install the listed software above before arriving at the workshop. Please note that due to limited resources significant support for Windows 7/8 and 10 may not be available. Therefore it is recommended that you try to install software and contact us (contact@idrack.org) before the 26th so that your problems can be sorted before time.

    if someone want to dilver alecture on his research ..mean i have some ideas that are probably new in PHYSICS i want to disscuss it with the seniors Professors orStudents .. This might be a new theory in Physics or than my problem would be solve ! so my question is is there any arranement in this workshope
    ?
